Creative Music and Movement for Children Ages 0-5
Early Childhood Music These classes introduce children to music through purposeful play and
active music making. Orff-Schulwerk is an approach to music teaching
and learning, combined with and supported by movement, based on things
children like to do: sing, chant rhymes, clap, dance, and keep a beat
or play a rhythm on anything near at hand. The pedagogical materials
used in the Orff class include poems, rhymes, games, songs, dances, and
instrumental pieces. At the heart of all of this is improvisation – the
instinct children have to create their own melodies, to explore their
imaginations.
123Move!
This class introduces children to dance and music through creative movement. Using colorful props, imagery and music, children learn basic elements of dance in an age appropriate manner. In becoming aware of how their bodies move, through use of imagination and personal expression, they gain confidence in their natural abilities.
