Villa Musica's Summer Camp for Young Singer's is a week long day camp for singers between the age of 12-18. In its fourth successful year, this camp gives young singers the opportunity to hone their skills in performance while experiencing many other aspects of the singer skill-set such as acting, movement, accompanist collaboration and even yoga.
Participants will work with some of San Diego's finest instructors in this field - Loren Salter (acting), Isa Sabey (movement), Martha-Jane Lownie (voice) and Dr. Fiona Chatwin (Director) just to name a few as they work toward a final recital which raises the rafters every year!
Each participant must have prepared two contrasting songs from any of the following genres - classical, musical theatre, art song or operetta. No arias from grand opera.

Apprentice Accompanist Positions
In 2009 we will provide two young pianists the opportunity to serve as apprentice accompanists for the Villa Musica Summer Camp for Young Singers. This year we will again offer a $325 stipend for these positions. Summer Camp for Young Singers Recommendation Although it is not necessary to audition for this camp it is required that each participant prepare two songs in advance of the first day of class. You must have sheet music for your accompanist (2 copies) and the songs should be contrasting in tempo and dramatic style. These songs should be chosen in conference with your teacher.
